New Second-Floor Lounge Offers a Stylish Destination for Handcrafted Cocktails, Small Plates with Panache and Live Music
Open Tuesday - Saturday 4pm - 12am
Live Music Thursday - Saturday 6:30pm - 10:30pm
theWit Hotel, already a hub for cocktails, dining and entertainment in Chicago, is thrilled to introduce a sophisticated new nightlife concept with the opening of the Phoenix Lounge on the hotel’s second-level mezzanine. Welcoming guests every Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., the Phoenix Lounge shakes up the classic hotel lounge experience, with chic, contemporary décor, live music, impeccable club service, handcrafted cocktails and a menu of rustic, Mediterranean-inspired small plates from the adjacent cibo matto.
A classy destination unto itself, the Phoenix Lounge also serves as an ideal spot to enjoy a pre- or post-theatre drink and bite, or a cocktail before dinner at cibo matto. The lounge seats 45 guests comfortably among elegant furnishings including black velvet lounge chairs, plush silver leather banquets and contemporary black resin tables. A modern sculpture made from hand-blown glass bottles and lit by candles serves as both a dynamic, modern backdrop for the bar and a functional storage space for the lounge’s high-end liquor.
Live music, a staple of great hotel lounges throughout the decades, takes center stage at the Phoenix Lounge … with a Wit twist, of course! Every Thursday through Saturday, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., Phoenix Lounge guests will be treated to two live performances by local and emerging artists from the “perch,” a landing off the dramatic glass stairwell that links the hotel’s buzzing lobby with the Phoenix Lounge. The intriguing mix of acoustic vocal and instrumental acts has been designed to complement the lounge’s refined ambiance while allowing conversation.
While enjoying the entertainment, guests can sip an array of handcrafted cocktails, inspired by classic libations and composed of freshly squeezed juices and hand-muddled herbs and accented with signature Wit twists.
The Phoenix Lounge’s well-edited wine list is organized by such user-friendly headings as “Lush Red” and “Buttery White,” making the decision between a 2007 Mazzi Valpolicella Superiore from San Peretto and a 2007 Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay from Russian River easy, even for wine novices.
From the adjacent cibo matto kitchen, Executive Chef Todd Stein’s culinary team presents a collection of seasonal small-plates exclusively for Phoenix Lounge guests.
